Rocche Costamagna / Alessandro Locatelli

The wines of Rocche-Costamagna are a result of the perfect interplay of geographical location, meticulous care both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and decades of experience.

The term "Rocche" usually refers to a natural hilly landscape. In this case, it refers to a privileged wine-growing area, the family's historic cru, called "Rocche dell'Annunziata" (covering 6 of the 14 hectares of the family estate).

"Costamagna" is the family name of the winery owners in La Morra, where high quality wines have been produced and distributed for over 160 years. The evidence for this centuries-old tradition is a document dating back to 1841: a retail licence for the wines from the estate's own vineyards. Since the late 1960s, the business has been run by Claudia Ferraresi, the granddaughter of the widow Costamagna, accompanied by her husband Giorgio. Today, their son Alessandro Locatelli is in charge, assisted by agronomist Gian Piero Romana and oenologist Giuseppe Caviola.

Rocche Costamagna uses the most modern technologies, while always respecting the true character of the indigenous grape varieties. The wines emphasise not only the particularities of the grape variety, but also those of the area of origin. In the historic vaulted cellars, the temperature and humidity are optimal, and the thick walls of Langhe rock and stone provide an ideal environment for both the Slavic oak barrels and the bottles in which the wines are aged. Above the cellar is the recently renovated old house, where four “Art Suites” have been created. These guest rooms have been designed with the utmost care and love for art and terroir. Each “Art Suite” has been equipped with antique furniture and precious paintings and has its own terrace overlooking the majestic hills of the Barolo-Langhe.

Distillerie Tessendier & Fils

Grape growers, producers of Cognac and innovative spirits

“Time is of the essence for creating high-quality spirits” (Jérôme Tessendier)

The Tessendier & Fils Distillery, established in 1880, is a family-run business based in Cognac and Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente, which produces a diverse portfolio of high-quality Cognacs (see Cognac Park) with a modern twist. The heirs, Jérôme and Lilian Tessendier, have succeeded in modernising the family business in the face of the international dimension of the market: first by creating their own brand of Cognac, then by drawing on their ancestral savoir-faire to refine other types of spirits. This knowledge was forged over time, improved from generation to generation and is now shared by the Tessendier Distillery through three Cognac series (Park, Campagnère, Grand Breuil), each with its own unique character, its own history.

The vineyards of the village of Schreckbichl, or Colterenzio in Italian, near Girlan are among the oldest vineyards in Europe. The origin lies in the Roman estate Cornelianum of a Roman named Cornelius. From this, almost 1000 years later, the present name Girlan or Coriano developed.
